This is the mechanical half of the catalogue. Everything here changes how a car sounds, how it sits or how it stops, as opposed to the aero and styling ranges that change how it looks. Three areas, one place to shop them, and every part listed against the chassis it suits rather than a model name.

Three ways to build a car

Most builds start in one of three places and end up touching all three.

Exhaust changes the note and the way the engine breathes on the way out. Cat back, turbo back and axle back systems cover how much of the line gets replaced, with headers, down pipes, particulate filter back systems and tips filling in around them.

Suspension changes how the car sits and how it holds itself through a corner. Coilovers adjust both ride height and damping, so you set the stance and then dial in the firmness separately. Lowering springs do the height without the adjustment.

Braking is where a faster car earns its licence back. Rotors and pads are matched per axle and per calliper, so the front and rear are separate listings and a Brembo car takes different parts to a non Brembo one.

Cars we cover

Subaru is the deepest by a wide margin, which reflects where the aftermarket demand sits in Australia. Volkswagen and Toyota follow, then Hyundai, Nissan, Audi, Mazda and BMW. Kia, Mitsubishi, Cupra and Chevrolet are also covered, among others.

Everything is listed by chassis code. The same nameplate across two generations usually takes different parts, and a sedan and a wagon of the same generation often differ again, so check the code on the listing against your own car before ordering.

Fitting

Exhaust, suspension and brake work all change how a car behaves, and most of it is a workshop job rather than a driveway one. Suspension work should be followed by a wheel alignment, because changing ride height changes camber and toe.

Aftermarket modifications may affect a vehicle's compliance with vehicle standards, registration requirements and insurance conditions, and some products may be intended for competition or off road use. Unless we have stated in writing that a particular product is approved for your vehicle in your state, it is up to you to confirm what applies and whether engineering approval is required. Tell your insurer about any modification.

FAQ

What counts as a performance part? Here it means the mechanical upgrades: exhaust, suspension and brakes. Aero, body and styling parts have their own collections.

Where should I start? Exhaust is the usual first change because it is the most noticeable for the money and rarely needs anything else done alongside it. Suspension follows if you want the car to handle and sit differently. Brakes are worth doing once the car is quicker than it was.

What is the difference between coilovers and lowering springs? Coilovers replace the spring and damper together and let you adjust ride height and damping. Lowering springs replace only the spring and keep the factory dampers, so they set one height and cost less. Springs suit an otherwise standard car, coilovers suit someone who wants to tune the setup.

Are rotors and pads sold in pairs? They are listed per axle, so a full car needs the front and the rear listing. Check whether your car runs Brembo or non Brembo callipers first, because the rotor sizes differ and the listings are separate.

Do I need an engineer's certificate? That depends on the modification, the vehicle and the state or territory it is registered in. We cannot make that call for your car. Check with your road authority before the work is done rather than after.

Will any of this void my warranty? That is between you and whoever holds the warranty on your vehicle. Ask them before fitting, particularly while the car is still inside its factory warranty period.
